Die bekende Kaapse Walliese Koor het gemeentelede en gaste in die Family Church, Gansbaai Sondag, 26 Februarie 2017 op hul voete en in trane gehad met hul optrede.
Die koor is deur hulle dirigent, Eddie Atherton aan die gemeente en gaste voorgestel.
Heelparty gaste vanuit ander denominasies in Gansbaai het die diens bygewoon om na die koorsang te luister.
Die koor het drie koorliedere voor die aanvang van die diens gesing, waarna die diens deur Leon Heyl gelei is.
Ter afsluiting het die koor die gaste verras met ‘n verdere drie koorliedere wat hulle gesing het.
Die koor het Gansbaai besoek om aan die Herdenkingsdiens van die HMS Birkenhead Troe-peskip deel te neem. Die skip het 165 jaar gelede by Dangerpoint gesink.
Koorlede het vriendelik ingewillig om ook die Sondagoggend tydens die erediens van die Family Church op te tree.
Cape Welsh Choir
The Cape Welsh Choir (Côr Cymraeg Y Penrhyn) was formed out of the Welsh Cambrian Society in 1982 by eight Welshmen under the leadership of the late Rosa Salmon (neé Roos) and consists of choristers who come from a variety of backgrounds all sharing the love of choral singing in the rousing Welsh male voice tradition.
The choir is a member of the Welsh Association of Male Choirs and one highlight of the choir history was to have been invited to perform at the magnificent Royal Albert Hall in London where 700 voices performed to an audience of over 8 000.
A lot has been achieved in the last 30 years and the choir is proud to have performed its 800th concert in 2014, these to various audiences and in many different venues in South Africa, ranging from small village halls to larger establishments such as the Cape Town City Hall.
The choir also put on a musical in 2015 to celebrate the Battle of Britain. A total of over 1 000 people came to see the three milestone performances.
The choir has cut a number of CD recordings, annually supports the “Last night of the Proms” charity event and has been involved with raising considerable amounts for needy charities over the last 33 years. The choir is currently directed by Eddie Atherton.
