How to prevent attacks with improved security - Part 4

Greetings again. Welcome to our final in the series on protecting your valuable assets. We have had great fun putting this together for you - and in that regard, I have some exciting news - but will keep that right to the end.

Today we will look at communication and sum up most of what we have learned over the past few weeks.

COMMUNICATION

One needs to keep an open mind when it comes to communications. You need to think out of the box for a while.

Typically, when one refers to communications, we all tend to think of radios, telephones, and cellular devices. We however forget the age old and proven buzzers, lights, sirens and hooters and the likes. If your workshop is close enough to the dwelling, you may want to install a buzzer linked between the two. If activated in the house it will sound in the workshop, thus alerting them to a potential threat or attack.

Similarly, the use of flashing lights can also be adopted that when a certain beam is activated, lights start flashing together with a siren.

The key thing to remember here is that an assailant wants to leverage off the element of surprise. The moment others are alerted to their presence on the property they have lost the element of surprise.

Most communities already have a large network of radios connected on a farm watch group or a similar initiative in place to deal with such incidents. It would be well worth your while to investigate which groups you can join and then network with like-minded neighbours.

Agri protection is one of Core Tactical Services' specialties, and we would gladly advise or quote on any requirements.

IN CONCLUSION

If you are not yet security conscious as you maybe should be, now would be the time to start putting your plan in place and developing that mindset. As the old saying goes - better safe than sorry.

The formulation and exercising of the plan is time-consuming, but without it, you have no answer to a possible emergency or home invasion.

Preparing the plan and exercising it regularly does not place you or your family at less of a risk, but it does prepare you and your family to better deal with the situation should it occur. It merely assists you to overcome and aids in the prevention of a possible attack.

Most importantly keep an open mind. Evaluate any and all proposals and make 100% sure that YOU have done your due diligence tests prior to making a final decision.
