September is Tourism Month
September is Tourism Month culminating on 27 September being Tourism Day. The theme for 2023 is “Tourism invests in a green future”. Every year Gansbaai Tourism celebrates Tourism Month with a variety of activities aimed at marketing Gansbaai and its activities.
This year it started with a meet and greet and wine tasting on 1 September. Nushaan from Lomond Wine Estate presented the wine tasting to the group of tourism friends who attended. Several people were not aware that Lomond is open every day and delicious platters can be ordered. OK Foods sponsored a cheese platter and Baardskeerdersbos trout pate was served.
On Wednesday 13 September Tourism has organized a Geological walk in De Kelders with host Mike Dormer.
Saturday 16 September is International Coastal Clean-up Day and tourism will support the clean-ups of Marine Dynamics in the Gansbaai Harbour and the De Kelders Community group who will be cleaning up at Stanford’s Cove.
On Monday 25 September, the Tourism interns will be hosting a Masakhane Township tour as there is a desire to revive this activity to allow international tourism to experience township life.
Last but not least on Tourism Day - Glenda the manager at Gansbaai Tourism will host a coffee morning at one of our Gansbaai icons - African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary from 10:00-12:00. Bring a donation (however small); have a cup of coffee and Xolani will entertain us.
