Meals on Wheels and Spirit of Life
Sunday, 5 May 2024 was a special day for children and residents of Blompark in Gansbaai Primary’s school hall, as well as in Silwerjare Dienssentrum’s hall. Pastor Peter Fouldien made the successful day’s arrangements, which included Gospel Ministry's Spirit of Life Sangroep and Meals on Wheels. Pastor Fouldien also organized a morning service on the preceding Saturday at Silwerjare Dienssentrum, with pastor Martin Cupido bringing the Gospel message. A singing group led by Theresa Ely-Felino performed, after which sandwiches and soup were distributed.
On Sunday in the school hall, the singing group of Spirit of Life showed why they have existed for 40+ years: the Gospel was brought to the children and adults in a special way through spiritual singing. Various speakers from different organizations were also invited to bring a message. The group closed the proceedings with a special song, “Jesus Loves Me...”. After that, they handed out special packets of 'NikNaks' with the words, “Remember Jesus loves you” on the packets, to the children.
At Silwerjare, Meals on Wheels Community Services, which came specially from Struisbaai, provided about 650 people with a meal. Their Branch Manager, Seloma Gouws, along with her team, stood behind the food pots to prepare the meals. “We also received about 20 boxes of Wheat Bix and many clothes, shoes and blankets as donations which were distributed,” says Suzanne Hans, Manager: Silwerjare Dienssentrum and Oak Grove Sorgsentrum. “It was wonderful to see these people working so spontaneously for charity.” A large number of children were entertained in between with talks, music and performances.
Spirit of Life
‘Spirit of Life’, a Gospel Ministry in Cape Town was established about 40+ years ago. “Our team’s ‘faces’ have changed over the years, but our mission to win souls for God’s Kingdom has remained unchanged,” said the group’s Leader, Tracy Joseph. Tracy says that on 5 May 2024, the group once again experienced the presence of God in Gansbaai, Blompark in Gansbaai Primary’s school hall with the bringing of the Gospel through song, as well as food and clothes to those who need it. “We take beautiful memories of Gansbaai back with us and we were impressed with the great arrangements that were made for our visit,” she said.
Suzanne concluded: “I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Seloma and her team from Meals on Wheels for the meal, as well as to Spirit of Life for their performance and Peter Fouldien for his great arrangements, it is appreciated.”
