Enigmatic Pollinators: Grootbos Foundation's Latest Project
Our dedicated entomologists have just kicked off the trial phase of our Spring Enigmatic Pollinators Project!
This fascinating study involves Lyperia tristes, a flower known for its enchanting scent of cinnamon in the late afternoon. To better understand its pollinators, we've covered the flowers with gauze bags for 24 hours. This allows our team to conduct precise nectar measurements using ultra-fine 1μl capillary tubes.
Now, we're eagerly waiting to see if insects are drawn to these aromatic blooms. With a little luck, we'll capture some incredible photos of the enigmatic pollinators at work!
