12 Months of Rooikrans Clearing
On 30 August 2024, we marked a significant milestone - 12 months of dedicated efforts to clear invasive rooikrans from the dunes in the Walker Bay Nature Reserve. This work has been demanding and challenging, but it's also incredibly beautiful and rewarding.
We are deeply grateful to our hardworking teams of biodiversity stewards who have been tirelessly working in the outdoors, primarily hand-pulling the young rooikrans that sprouted after the fire swept through the area in 2022. Their efforts are a crucial step in landscape conservation, protecting our rich biodiversity, and safeguarding the environment against future threats.
Thank you to everyone involved in this vital conservation work!
