Employability Programme Update: Siphokuhle’s Journey
We’re excited to share an update from the Employability Programme, which provides a different career pathway to young people seeking employment without venturing down the entrepreneurship route.
This week, Siphokuhle, a young resident from Masakhane, spent time at Green Futures Nursery and in the Walker Bay Nature Reserve. She learned through observation and practice how to work in a nursery, a landscaping team, and an invasive plant clearing team. With a natural interest in agriculture, Siphokuhle found this workplace experience enormously helpful and inspirational.
An interest in plants, mastery of confidence and life skills, a good reference, and the opportunity to observe teams at work often provide all the momentum needed to secure permanent employment.
