11 January 2025: Buffeljags to Quoin Point Beach Hike

Starting this year, we’ll host two walks per month, giving everyone more chances to enjoy the outdoors.

The first walk will take place on the second Saturday of each month, as per tradition. This is our fixed event and will rarely change. Full details about the venue, meeting point, and times will be shared a week in advance.

The second walk will take place on the fourth Saturday of each month. Details about this “bonus” walk will also be advertised a week before, with all the necessary information. Please note that this second walk is optional and may be canceled if necessary.

We encourage everyone to use our WhatsApp group to arrange lifts, share ideas, and coordinate with each other for these events.

First Walk of the Year

The first walk of 2025 will be a scenic beach walk at low tide from Buffeljags to Quoin Point. This is an easy, flat route that’s perfect for easing into the new year.

Date: 11 January 2025
Meeting Point: Buffeljags Abalone Farm Pump Station at 8:00 AM

Route Details:

• Distance: 9.3 km (round trip)
• Terrain: Flat and easy along the beach at low tide
• Footwear: Comfortable takkies will suffice

What to Bring: Hat, sunblock, snacks, and drinks for brunch at Quoin Point

Safety: I will lead the walk and carry the medical pouch.

The tide will be low when we start, so it won’t be an issue for the walk back. Here’s the Google Maps location pin for the meeting point: Google Map Pin.

Second Walk of the Month

The second walk will be a new mountain hike near Tesselaarsdal to Spitskop. Details for this hike, including venue, meeting place, and times, will follow closer to the date.

We’re looking forward to starting the year with you all, exploring these beautiful trails together. Let’s make 2025 a fantastic year for hiking and camaraderie!
