Farm 215 Hike this upcoming Saturday!
Dear Fellow hikers!
I have an important update regarding our communication platform. Moving forward, I will be transitioning away from email and using WhatsApp for all hiking notices. Please ensure that you are on WhatsApp, as all updates will be posted there starting April 1st.
Upcoming Hike: Farm 215 – Saturday Adventure
We have an exhilarating hike planned for this coming Saturday at Farm 215. This route features a moderately challenging 3 km climb up the mountain saddle above the guest house. Although we won’t be reaching Perdekop, the circular trail will take us back down to our starting point. Expect a total distance of 9.5 km, with a fitness level of 6 and a difficulty rating of 4.
The hike follows a jeep track, ensuring stable footing beneath your boots. Along the way, we will be treated to stunning views of Avoca and Pearly Beach, as well as a variety of unique fynbos species.
Lunch & Weather Considerations
Please note that our lunch stop will not be shaded. Additionally, there is a slight chance of light showers, so bringing a waterproof layer is advisable. Since there won’t be any rocks to sit on, you may need to sit on the sandy road—but feel free to bring a camping chair for added comfort!
Meeting Details & Directions
We will meet at 8:00 AM at the guest house on Farm 215. A pin drop is attached for your convenience: Google Maps Link.
The Farm 215 turn-off is on the Baardskeerdersbos road from Franskraal and is clearly signposted.
If you’re coming from Hermanus, you can take the shortcut past Grootbos to bypass Gansbaai.
Roads are suitable for normal vehicles, but drive cautiously once you turn off the tar road.
Be sure not to pass the signpost for Brown Dog Farm—Farm 215’s turn-off is just before it, on the right.
RSVP via WhatsApp Poll
To help with planning, I will be sending out a WhatsApp poll to confirm attendance. Please respond with a simple Yes/No so I can inform Farm 215 of our group size.
Farm 215 has been closed to hikers and cyclists for some time, but our club remains in good standing and is still welcome. A big thank you to their management for granting us this opportunity once again!
I’m looking forward to leading this hike and seeing all of you out on the trails.
Best regards,
Mike
