Nature's Warning Signs: Messages from the Fynbos
We’re starting this Friday with a little outdoor wisdom from the Grootbos landscape.
Take a look at this male puff adder, its black and yellow colours aren't just for show. These are nature’s warning signs, telling others to keep their distance. Puff adders prefer to be left alone and use their colours to avoid trouble, not cause it.
Then there's the clever garden orb web spider. It’s not venomous, but it still knows how to send a strong message. By building a thick zigzag down its web, it lets birds know the web is there, saving the bird from a tangled mess and the spider from having to rebuild.
Nature really knows how to communicate!
