Growing Skills, Growing Businesses

The Green Futures students are getting more confident in the kitchen!

Amahle made a tasty cauliflower and potato soup.

Shahida prepared a refreshing iced tea.

Our entrepreneurs are also taking steps forward with their businesses:

Venecia used part of her grant to buy stock for her vetkoek business - mince and chicken livers.

Sandisiwe invested in fresh ‘afval’ (tripe) for her traditional food business, helping her grow her business plan.

Ben delivered an industrial overlocker to Nobantu (a 2023 entrepreneur) through a partnership between Grootbos Foundation and Overstrand Municipality. Ben also provides training so people can use these machines with confidence.

This has been a big year for Nobantu - she now runs her sewing and teaching business from a municipal container at the Masakhane Taxi Rank, where she also teaches others how to sew.

Noluthando, one of the 2025 entrepreneurs, received an industrial sewing machine from Ben thanks to the same partnership.

Sisipho is also working hard with her own industrial sewing machine.

Every step taken by these students and entrepreneurs is helping build skills, grow businesses, and strengthen communities.
