We Often Carry Other People’s Fears Without Realising It

We often absorb the fears of the people around us without realising it.

Community narratives.

Family warnings.

Colleagues’ experiences.

“Well, I know someone who tried that…”
“It’s incredibly hard.”
“Be realistic.”

What we forget is this: their story is grounded in their experience - their fears, their limitations, their beliefs. It was never yours to carry.

Have you ever considered that you might be the one who breaks the mould?

When Roger Bannister ran the mile in under four minutes, it was widely believed to be impossible. Once he broke that mental and physical barrier, others followed quickly. The human body had not changed overnight. Belief had.

The difference between those who achieve what others call “unachievable” and those who remain stuck is not talent alone. It is their refusal to internalise limitation.

When you feel the pull toward your dream - and then retract because you believe it cannot work - you create internal conflict. That inner battle drains energy. It shows up as exhaustion, hesitation, procrastination.

No one else is fighting that war inside your mind. Only you.

The stories you repeat to yourself become your reality. Yet they are often just inherited fears masquerading as truth.

You will not achieve your goals in the same way someone else did - and that is precisely the point. You are wired uniquely. Your path will look different.

Stop fighting yourself.

Release self-judgement. Release borrowed limitation. Step into your own potential.

There is joy, fulfilment, and possibility waiting - but it requires you to believe your story more than the stories around you.
