Feelgood Friday: Green Futures Skills Training

Feelgood Friday at Grootbos Foundation starts with news from Green Futures Skills training, where our students have enjoyed a week of classroom-based lessons, practical learning in the Grootbos Lodge and in the Indigenous Nursery, and a special financial workshop session called 'My Money and Me ', which was presented by Taking Care of Business (an NPO that sets up aspiring entrepreneurs for financial independence). The students love the experience of learning in a variety of ways which helps them master new skills and competencies.

Practical workplace experience in a luxury lodge with individual mentors paired with theory is a recipe for success.

This week's parting shot is unusual as it is out-of-the-ordinary. It is a photograph of the team of Grootbos Foundation sports coaches getting up close and real with their impact data. Usually they are tearing around in the great outdoors like Pied Pipers with hundreds of young people around them but today was a data day! As a non-profit company, our challenge is not only to change lives and protect the natural environment but to find a variety of ways to evidence this change in ways that make sense and build trust for participants, partners and funders. These coaches collect and measure data for impact at the same time as coaching, mentoring and supporting young people. Today was a good data day and we will soon be able to share an infographic of their impact on young lives with you. From all of us at Grootbos Foundation, we wish you a wonderful weekend.
