2017 sees the fourth year running of the Funky Fynbos Festival and it promises to be better than ever! Hosted in the coastal town of Gansbaai in the Overberg, the Festival showcases the best of the town and its surroundings. Taking place from 22 - 24 September, the event includes live music, great local food and wine, entertainment for the kids and outdoor activities for the whole family to take part in.
One of these great activities is the Funky Fynbos MTB Race taking place on the Saturday, 23 September 2017. Hosted on Lomond Wine Estate, the MTB Race will put your endurance to the test in a stunning setting. The Race is made up of 4 different routes that take you through the landscapes of the Lomond Farm including vineyards, gravel roads and hills of flowering fynbos all with stunning views over the valley.

The different MTB Routes
This year the Funky Fynbos Festival races will also include a Duo Challenge. Those who feel up to the challenge can take part in both the MTB Race and the Trail Run. here follows the details:
Long Duo Challenge
Distance: 50km MTB + 30km Trail Run
Entrance: R450.00
Medium Duo Challenge
Distance: 27km MTB + 12km Trail Run
Entrance: R250.00
Short Duo Challenge
Distance: 17km MTB + 6km Trail Run
Entrance: R100.00
Pre-Registration can be done online or at the Gansbaai Tourism Bureau on Friday, 22 September from 14:00 - 21:00. Registration on the day will take place at Lomond Wine Estate at 6:30.
The first 200 participants to finish will receive a goodie bag and the main prize giving starts at 12:30. Prizes include luxury weekend getaways, cash prizes and spot prizes to enjoy.

Once completed, you can now sit back and enjoy the rest of the festivities. Further activities at Lomond include a fishing competition, live music, food and craft stalls, kids entertainment and wine tasting. Heading back to town, be sure to stop by the other 2 venue spots, Protea Centre and the Gansbaai Harbour. Here you’ll find more great food, wine, live music, street parades, cooking and braaiing competition, fynbos displays and more.
