Art4Heart Art Competition Celebrates Creative Excellence at Prize-Giving Ceremony
The Art4Heart Art Competition held its highly anticipated prize-giving ceremony last Saturday (June 24, 2023). With a total of 30 artists vying for recognition, the competition offered a platform for artists to showcase their diverse skills and unique perspectives.
The competition, which had no specific theme, encouraged participants to submit artwork across various mediums and genres, resulting in an eclectic mix of styles on display. The task of selecting the winners fell upon a panel of three esteemed judges, who faced the daunting challenge of evaluating the entries based on creativity, originality, presentation, and artistic skill demonstrated.
In the adult section, the judges carefully deliberated and assessed the entries before announcing the deserving winners. Among the multitude of talented artists, three individuals emerged victorious, having showcased exceptional skill and creativity in their submissions.
First place in the adult section was awarded to Dok 3’s, whose artwork captivated the judges with its remarkable level of creativity and originality. Dok 3's piece, a stunning charcoal composition titled "Poplap," seamlessly blended tonal values, leaving a lasting impression on all who viewed it.
The second-place honour was bestowed upon Lauretta Nel whose realistic painting titled "Fynbos" mesmerized the judges with its intricate brushwork and harmonious colour palette. Lauretta's masterful technique and ability to evoke a sense of ethereal beauty earned her high praise from the discerning panel.
In the third-place position was Susan van Heerden, whose painting entitled "Gestroop" stood out for its innovative concept and amazing storytelling. Susan's skillful manipulation of materials showcased her ability to transform ordinary objects into thought-provoking art.
The judges commended all participants for their contributions and expressed their admiration for the exceptional skill levels displayed throughout the competition. The diversity of styles and mediums made the judging process incredibly challenging, as each artist brought their unique perspective and artistic voice to the competition. Honourable mention was made to Paulene Swart, for her beautiful entry of a reclining lady. Apart from the winners in the adult section, the Art4Heart Art Competition also recognized outstanding talent in the youth categories. For the High School, the following artists placed first to third place:

• Third place - Avani Stevens
In the Elementary School section the following wins:
• First place - Rosalia Botha (absent) no photo
• Second place - Abbigail Hage
• Third place - Lara Fouche
