Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Good
Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Short-tail stingray, African penguins + Storm Petrels
Summary: Overcast skies but calm conditions awaited as Slashfin launched from Kleinbaai Harbour. En route to the dive site, the critically endangered African penguins were encountered along the water, swimming as a raft through the bay. At the dive site, guests were soon greeted by the Bronze whaler sharks around the vessel. Consistent activity throughout the trip allowed divers an up-close experience with these sharks, with the additional brief sighting of a Short-tail stingray, a benthic dweller. Thank you to everyone who joined us today. It was a pleasure sharing our sightings with you.
