As the year draws to a close, we at the Gansbaai Tourism Bureau would like to take this opportunity to thank visitors and locals for their continued support and wish everyone a safe, happy festive season and a prosperous 2018.
Finally, it’s summer 2017 and the moment you’ve dreamed about all year has arrived! The car’s packed with all your holiday essentials aka your sunscreen and party pants. Now it’s you, sunny skies and Gansbaai’s good holiday vibes. With so much to do in so little time, it’s essential to plan ahead, guaranteeing it’s non-stop fun and action all the way. And to make it easy, we’ve put together a list of awesome events, attractions and kid-friendly activities to enjoy in the area.
Spend lazy days enjoying unspoiled beaches, swimming coves and even a lagoon, where you can soak up a little dose of some much needed vitamin D. Or join a genuine township tour, guided by a well-loved Gansbaai local. For adrenaline seekers looking to cross another adventure off their bucket lists, why not give Shark Cage Diving a go. Plunge into the cold Atlantic and come face to face with these apex predators in the Great White Shark Capital of the World.
Hyperactive holiday makers who love a little exercise and bit of a challenge will find there is more than enough to keep their batteries charged too. A choice of MTB and Hiking Trails take you across stretches of pristine white beaches, through blankets of indigenous fynbos and under the magical canopies of milkwood forests. Or, if that is just a warm up in your exercise log-book, be sure not to miss March for the Penguins, The Danger Point Half Marathon and the Strandskloof 4x4 Challenge.
When the summer sun gets too hot and the need for an icy cold one or a sunset cocktail beckons, there are a host of pubs and nightlife to keep the socialite entertained throughout their stay. There are also a wide variety of restaurants in and around Gansbaai and the menus are sure to entice with mouth-watering pizza, ocean-fresh seafood and juicy steak.
Be sure to visit the friendly team at the Gansbaai Tourism Bureau, which can be found at The Great White Junction, Main Road, Gansbaai, for more information on all the amazing activities in and around Gansbaai this festive season.
