Full Moon - 19 February 2019

Southern Cape Astronomy Club

It's full moon tomorrow 19 February at 17:54 (SAST). The Moon is also at perigee (at 11:07, a mere 356 761 km from earth, falling within 6 hours of perigee), making it the largest full moon of the year.

Extremely careful observations might show a difference between the smallest and largest full moon's of the year, photographic comparisons such as the sequence taken in 2014 easily show the difference.

The full moon in September, falling within 15 hours of apogee will be the smallest of the year.
