Marine Dynamics Shark Tours

  • Sightings:  Bronze whalers and Short-tail stingray
  • Location: Joubertsdam
  • Water Temperature: Moderate
  • Visibility: Moderate

We started our day in some nice and sunny conditions with just a bit of swell. Once we got to the anchor spot our first group of nine quickly geared up and were ready to climb into the cage, as the copper sharks were already all around us. The first cage had very active sharks coming in numbers and entertaining everyone in the cage. Our next cage were just as lucky having Bronzies come up to them really close showing off all their beauty and grace. Just as the group of divers got into the water a short tail stingray made its appearance. Great trip all around, once we were ready we headed back to enjoy soup and bread back at the great white house.

The second trip of the day launched on to a beautiful bay with the sun shinning, a slight wind to keep things fresh and a sneaky larger bit of swell here and there. Once on anchor we only had a few moments to wait till our first shark sighting as a Bronze whaler approached. Things were a little slow in the beginning as our winds shifted direction but we just had to wait for things to settle and the activity started to pick up and boy did it pick up, as our divers were continuously ducking under the water to see the sharks that just kept coming. We had the adult Bronze whalers around and a number of smaller individuals including a very tiny, inquisitive individual that made for some amazing views above and below water. Towards the end of our time on anchor the Short-tail stingrays came to the surface, with two individuals showing off the graceful movements that we associate with these magestic creatures. A fantastic afternoon spent out on sea for our guests and the crew of Slashfin.
