Month of Love - Weekly Update Week 8

The past weekend everyone was all a twitter with the gift giving and receiving as we celebrated Valentine’s Day on Friday. But our love for the Overberg is only celebrated on one day but throughout the month!

We kicked off our first week of February with the Lighthouse to Lighthouse MTB that celebrates the beauty of our natural coastline and our love for getting the adrenalin pumping. The same week we also had the Love #discoverOverberg chat where everyone shared their favourite thing and/or spot in the Overberg. Folks shared their love for our pristine beaches, our ancient forests, all our adventurous outdoor activities and many more.

In our second week in February we celebrated Valentine’s Day followed up by the Birkenhead Hengel Klub (Angling Club) Valentine’s dance. A good crowd of people talked, laughed and danced the night away. And in between feasted on the glorious lamb spit which has been roasting to perfection the whole day. All in all it was wonderful social event.

But the folks of the Overberg’s love doesn’t stop there. We continue the merry festivities with the Valentine’s Shoot at the shooting range and to end of the month, we commemorate the wrecking of the HMS Birkenhead. We devote a whole day to the brave souls who stood their ground that fateful night and the world renown protocol which it established on the 26th of February this year.
