Nature, Creativity, and Connection at Grootbos
At the Masakhane Hub, the Nature-Art programme, guided by Zimasa and Nombulelo, sparks creativity and fun through collage activities. Children immerse themselves in the process, discovering a deep connection to nature, as if they are a part of it. Fostering this connection early is key to ensuring it grows with them.
Our slightly older Fynbos Explorers spent the week drawing proteas. This dedicated group has become engaged and collaborative, often sharing stories as they create. While some enjoy freehand drawing and others prefer copying images, next week will introduce bilateral drawing techniques to help them experiment with lines and build confidence in expressive art.
By encouraging creative exploration and a love for the natural world, these programmes help nurture not only artistic skills but also a lifelong connection to nature.
