Dancing with the Universe - New Works by Natalie-Dominique Louw

I’m excited to share two of my latest paintings, created for the Groeneweide Art Exhibition (9-14 September 2025). The theme was “Dancing with the Universe,” and I experimented with natural materials like crushed ash, charcoal, and facial powder to create soft, unique tones that bring these works to life.

Danser avec l’Universe

Oil and oil-based pigment on board - A1
Price: R8,000
Artist: N D Louw | Style: Surrealism

I created this painting for the Groeneweide Art Exhibition (9-14 September 2025), with the theme “Dancing with the Universe.”

To get the perfect colours, I experimented with unusual materials. I crushed ash and mixed it with linseed oil for the moon’s grey tones, and even used facial powder for the dancers’ skin tones. Each shade was carefully mixed to make the painting feel softer and more natural.
