Andries se 28.8kg Kabeljou

Andries Carsten, ‘n lid van die Birkenhead Boothengelklub, was Saterdag, 8 Junie 2014 baie opgewonde oor sy pragtige kabeljou van 28.8 kilogram.

Andries kon vir die afgelope 2 jaar weens sy gesondheid nie see toe gaan nie, wat hierdie vangs van hom des te meer besonders vir hom gemaak het. Hy het saam met skipper Johan Burmeister en Philip Fourie, ook Birkenheaders, op Johan en Gawie Krugel se boot, Nu-Nu by die Modergate gaan boothengel. Andries het twee kabeljoue, 18kg en 28.8kg ingetrek, met Johan wat ook baie goed gedoen het met sy twee kabeljoue van 17kg en 18kg. Jammer vir hierdie Birkenheaders dat hierdie kabeljoue slegs ‘n week voor die Birkenhead Boothengelklub se kompetisie op Saterdag, 14 Junie gevang is. Dit sou sekerlik amok tussen die boothengellede se kompetisie-vangstes veroorsaak het.
