Overstrand Executive Mayor, Alderlady Nicolette Botha-Guthrie, joint Riana de Coning, councillor for Ward 2, on invitation in this year’s handing out of caps and mittens to selected pre-schools in the area.
This forms part of the local Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Project Winter Warmth.
To the delight of the children, the Mayor wore her official chain and added much flair to the occasion. She also donated some lovely hand knitted blankets and teddy bears to the schools.
“Thank you Mayor, we appreciate your caring and involvement in the Gansbaai community,” Riana said.
“Also a warm word of thanks to the members of public that donated wool for the project.”
Please keep on donating as this is an ongoing project. Thank you to Michelle Fourie from “Needles and Pins” for handling the administrative side of donors and knitters. Your time is much appreciated.
Riana would also like to thank the kind knitters of Gansbaai for keeping the needles clicking throughout the year. “Not only did your lovely works of art bring very broad smiles and lots of joy to the children of Masakhane, Blompark and De Kleine Gansies but made them feel special and loved” she said. “Please keep on donating wool and keep on knitting as the winter of 2017 is just around the corner.” Gansbaai community really cares and their donations, time, love, energy and skills that has been invested into Project Winter Warmth is applauded.
