Overstrand Strives to be Centre of Excellence

The Overstrand Municipality’s vision has in the past been to be a centre of excellence for the community.

This will be their continued vision during the next five year cycle.

The delivering of optimal services to the community will remain a priority.

The establishing of the next five year cycle’s ward committees is of vital importance.

According to Ward 2’s Cllr Riana de Coning, the development of infrastructure such as tarring of roads, as well as the sealing of dust roads and the development of sidewalks needs immediate attention.  In Gansbaai remedial action also needs to be taken against the escalating wave of crime, abalone poaching, drug dealing and drug abuse.

Financial support is needed to increase manpower to fight crime and to develop facilities for the youth. ”Provincial Government’s support is desperately needed and must be organized”, she said.

De Coning further said that the Overstrand community is one that cares, belongs and serves.  She said that by taking hands: “…we will strive to be once again, one of the best ten municipalities in South Africa, if not the best.”
