Art in Gansbaai is a beautiful reflection of the coastal town’s natural landscape, its vibrant history and its passionate community. 

There are hundreds of artists living in and around Gansbaai in the Overberg who are always inspired and never run out of ideas to convey their spectacular interpretations. Whether sketching, painting, sculpting or crafting, they are always busy, happily creating artwork in a wide variety of mediums and colour palettes. 

It’s no surprise that the local community as well as visitors to the town enjoy exploring the wares, works, crafts and products created by local artists. This is why Gansbaai has several galleries, studios, art outlets, markets and antique stores selling artworks.

From colourful oil paintings of trawlers docked in Gansbaai Harbour and stormy ocean scenes to delicate sketches of bees dancing across pincushions and Erica’s in fynbos fields, the subject matter is a visual story waiting to resonate with art lovers.
