De Kelders Beach Overview:

De Kelders Beach is a cute pebbly cove that fits snugly under the clifftop overlooking Walker Bay. The clifftop was once the location of the long-since demolished De Kelders Hotel which was the destination for many memorable family holidays and friendly celebrations. The sheltered cove is still a favourite swimming spot for locals and holidaymakers on warm sunny days. De Kelders Beach is also a great diving spot for snorkelers and scuba divers.

De Kelders Beach offers a perfect little quiet spot to chill at.

Expect a long trudge down an ancient stone stairway, dating back over a century, as well as a bit of a clamber over a few rocks as you make your way to the little pebble beach.

A privately-owned historic drip cave with a natural indoor swimming pool is open to the public for tours with prior arrangement. History books about Cape Town’s history mention that in the early 1800s Scottish travel writer, artist and socialite, Lady Anne Barnard, loved to trek to De Kelders Beach to swim in the caves.
