Gansbaai Academia’s Team G-Force now find themselves among the Top 6 schools participating in the National CharterQuest CFO Junior Competition.

This after DSTV’s Mindset Channel 319 officially announced Team G-Force as a semi-finalist during the live broadcast aired on Saturday, 1 July. This momentous achievement comes after 260 teams from various public and private schools in South Africa were reduced to six participating teams. Among these 6 schools, Gansbaai Academia is the only school from the Western Cape who forms part of the CharterQuest CFO Junior semi-finals taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre in October 2017.

Talented scholars Heinrich van der Merwe, Llewellyn Davids, Khanya Xalisile and Jacques Prins had to rely on their analytical skills to solve a range of problems linked to a mining multinational company. These skills under the guidance of their Accounting teacher and mentor Mr Wilton Phillips were drawn from the commerce areas of Accounting, Business Studies and Economics.

This achievement would not have been possible if there was not a support base from various role players at school and individuals from the Overberg community.

Thank you to English teacher Mrs Mona Matthews and past student Malcolm Mulope for their input in the creation of a well-rounded video presentation. Videographers Sean van der Linde from Marine Dynamics and Heinrich du Plessis from Shark Cage Unlimited were a great help in finalising a professional video which was uploaded on YouTube. Thank you to Bruce Haase and Eelco Meester for providing the beautiful venue of Whale Huys in Gansbaai to film the video presentation. Mr Ernst Nieuwoudt for his contribution towards the uploading of the video and principal Tommy Wilson for his encouragement.

An opportunity would be provided for you to assist this great team in the next round by schools, parents, employers, friends and family to vote for Team G-Force on the CharterQuest Facebook page from the 1st August 2017.
