The Overstrand Junior Town Council (JTC) recently visited the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary (APSS) in Kleinbaai as part of the second leg of their annual orientation tour of facilities and municipal infrastructure.
The group of junior leaders was welcomed at the APSS by Gansbaai Administration’s Area Manager, Francois Myburgh, Overstrand Councillor, Riana de Coning and Brenda du Toit of Dyer Island Conservation Trust (DICT), who provided a comprehensive presentation and tour of the facility.
To support the group of young municipal leaders, they were accompanied by Unity Mtomile, the Enlighten Education Trust JTC Manager and Johan van der Merwe, a teacher at Northcliff House College.
Coincidentally, Johan van der Merwe held the post of JTC Mayor in 2015 and is a past pupil of Gansbaai Academia that formed part of the excursion.
